Payphone

"Payphone" adalah sebuah lagu yang dilakukan oleh band rock Maroon 5 pop Amerika. Lagu ini dirilis pada tanggal 17 April 2012, sebagai tunggal utama dari studio album keempat mereka overexposed (2012). Ini fitur Amerika rapper Wiz Khalifa. Hal ini ditulis oleh Rob moen, dan diproduksi oleh Blanco dan Shellback. Lagu ini adalah balada pop dan berbicara tentang asmara yang tidak lebih.

Lagu mid-tempo menemukan Levine meratapi hubungan memburuk dan Khalifa ayat berbicara tentang bagaimana menyesal kekasih beruntung akan untuk berjalan pergi. Judul lagu berasal dari garis Levine: "Aku ada di telepon umum berusaha untuk menelepon ke rumah / Semua perubahan saya menghabiskan pada Anda." Lagu telah menerima review positif dari kritikus musik, yang memuji melodi yang catchy dan menamakannya "sukses radio", tetapi sebagian lain menolak penampilan Khalifa dan judulnya.

Video musik resmi, disutradarai oleh Samuel Bayer, menemukan Levine mencatat beberapa perampok bank dan mencoba untuk menjadi "pahlawan" dalam hujan peluru saat ia membuat melarikan diri, mencuri pistol dari perampok dan kemudian akan keliru untuk satu. Karena itu, ia harus melarikan diri dari armada polisi, yang ia lakukan dengan mudah. Video ini positif diterima dari para kritikus, yang menganggap itu sebuah film mini-tindakan menyenangkan. Video ini dinominasikan untuk MTV Video Music Award untuk Best Pop Video, namun kalah keluar untuk "What's Make You Beautiful" oleh One Direction.

Lagu ini telah terbukti sukses. Di Billboard Hot 100, lagu debut di tempat nomor tiga sebelum memuncak pada nomor dua. Lagu menjual total 493.000 eksemplar. Ini menjadi minggu penjualan terbaik untuk lagu digital dengan kelompok dan juga delapan-minggu terbaik penjualan secara keseluruhan. Hal ini juga mencapai nomor satu di chart Hot 100 Kanada dan telah tinggal di atas selama delapan minggu berturut-turut.
